About Us

What started as a request to my mum, turned into Wattle + Twig...

Four years ago I asked my mum to make me a wreath to hang on my front door “I don’t want any of those tacky fake flowers’, I said whilst rolling my eyes.  She made me a wreath with Australian Natives which I loved, but the following year when I pulled it out, it was dried up dust.  The next year I looked for the highest quality faux flowers I could find and asked her to make it again.  It was beautiful and every visitor I had that year could not believe they weren’t real and they quickly started putting in requests.  Then those friends had friends who started putting in requests for wreaths and pretty soon it seemed obvious that we were making something special.

A year later we made our first ANZAC wreath and soon we were shipping out wreaths to schools all over Australia.  One was taken to PNG to lay rest at a grave by a loving grand-daughter.  We never knew what an honour it would be, to not only be part of people’s memorial tributes and life stories but also, to be part of so many people’s Christmas tradition.  To know it is our wreath that families look forward to hanging each year.  That hanging their wreath is part of their families annual celebration – well that is something very special.

Last year we were hit by a big blow.  My mother, already struggling with Neurofibromatosis, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  She started treatment and it went away and then came back again.. However the wreaths carry her through – creating something beautiful is a healing thing and each grateful review we read (and there are so many) is like a song in her heart that has permanent residence there.  The wreaths not only help pay for her treatment but give us both a gift to pass on to others.  Each wreath is truly a labour of love
